  1. Not a phony

I always hate it when people consume themselves with pedantic arguments over movies changing small details like hair color or minor characters from books however, this is different. You took a book about survival and mysterious pasts and turned it into a story about a love triangle. You completely subordinated the first to characters.

There was only one guy in the book, why the second? drama? The plot was strong enough, they just completely screwed the dynamic

Also apparently three ways and polyamory are just never options in these kinds of films are they?

So they took the comedy plot from "The Last Man On Earth" tv show, made a serious story out of it, put Margot inside and filmed a whole movie, right? The tv show is still better :)

Ditching the boyfriend as soon as a better looking stranger comes along… I want to deny it, but that's painfully realistic.

Wow… As a huge fan of the novel, I was ecstatic at the mention of this being a film- Then I watched this trailer. A fantastic novel which delves into the human psyche like precious few have done before or since, has been reduced to a pathetic lump of bulldust riddled with unnecessary romanticism and underlying racist themes. Did the scriptwriters even read the novel for themselves? There was only one man, a Caucasian scientist (correct me if the profession is wrong, by all means) who only ever saw the chance for procreation in her. The story is driven by their interactions and the tensions between them building and easing in various stages. I don't even recognise this… This… I don't even know what to call it. Rubbish.

just finished reading this book, bought it not knowing they made a movie-  I saw it at a second hand book store, and remember that my teacher was reading it when I was in high school.  This doesn't look very much  like the book, but looks interesting.
