One of my favorite movies. Cloris Leachman and Ben Johnson were outstanding in their roles. The character of Sam really hits home.

Black and White was out of favor by the time this film was made, (1971). Bogdanovich filmed it that way to "age it" and make it look like 1951. Now it's more than twice a long a time after the film was made as the period they were going back to and it looks all the more like a film made in 1951, (save for the naked scenes).
